Hypixel SkyBlock Foraging Guide
Where foraging money actually comes from, what gear to buy in what order, which attribute shards are worth chasing, and how to set up for pet levelling.
Where the money actually comes from
Foraging income breaks into four streams, in roughly ascending order of value:
- Wood: sold to NPCs or on the bazaar. Steady, but the smallest share.
- Forest Essence: can be sold as essence or as wooden bait.
- Attribute shards: chameleon, hummingbird and the new Torrhus shards drop steadily and sell well.
- Pet levelling: the majority of the income comes from leveling up pets.
Foraging generates enormous amounts of skill XP. That XP flows into whichever pet you have equipped and another in the EXP share slot.
This is also why Foraging Wisdom is very important.
Gear, in the order you should buy it
1. A starter axe~1M
The first upgrade that matters. An axe upgrade buys more Sweep per coin than anything else at the low end, and Sweep is the bottleneck on how fast you clear trees. If you are on a Treecapitator, replacing it is the highest-value purchase available to you.
2. Fig armor, then Helix armor2-3M → later
Canopy armor works if you are genuinely broke, but full Fig armor runs only two to three million on the auction house, which is cheap enough that skipping straight to it is usually right. Helix armor is the current endgame set, unlocking at Helix collection level 8.
One thing to budget for: Helix armor added a second gemstone slot. Maxing a piece now takes two Perfect Citrines rather than one, which is eight across the set.
3. Equipment upgradesOptional
The Honeycomb Necklace (from the Mangrove Locket) and Veilshroom Bracelet (from the Mangrove Grippers) are direct upgrades, but read the recipes before committing: both are built mostly from materials that have nothing to do with foraging: honeycomb, veilshroom, spring water. Unless you buy the components outright, chasing them means leaving foraging to grind something else for a modest bonus.
With a maxed David's Cloak you are fine on the old equipment for a long time. The Torrhus Belt's Fortune also scales with Safari catch milestones, which is a long grind and firmly a hypermax goal.
4. Maxim's Uncommon boostersBig
Maxim, at the highest point of the island, sells Uncommon boosters that replace your Common ones. First run /reclaim on your axe, armor and equipment to recover the Common boosters already on them, otherwise they are not counted.
Do the axe first. The gains are not equal per slot:
| Slot | Fortune | Sweep | Wisdom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Axe | 10 → 20 | 5 → 10 | 2 → 3 |
| Armor (each) | 5 → 10 | 2 → 5 | 1 → 2 |
| Equipment (each) | 2 → 5 | 1 → 2 | 0.5 → 1 |
5. Axe enchants: Petalfall and KarmaPetalfall first
Petalfall V gives a 1% chance to fell an entire tree outright, which is an enormous rate increase given how much of foraging is time-per-tree. It unlocks at Miria's shop level 3 and costs 20 Miria coupons. Get it.
Karma V gives +1-6% chance to double tree gifts, and a separate item pushes it to Karma VI. It drops rarely from Helix trees.
Attribute shards worth chasing
In-game shard names tell you nothing about what they do, which makes this the most opaque part of foraging progression. Here is the translation, with the post-update priorities marked.
| Shard | What it does | To max | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firefox | Torrhus Mastery. Up to +100 Helix Fortune | Common (96 shards) | High |
| Ember | Galatea Training. +10% Heart of the Forest XP from all sources | Uncommon (64) | High |
| Woodpecker | Forest Felling. +0.1% chance per level to fell an entire tree | Uncommon (64) | High |
| Vulture | Helix Sharpening. +15 Sweep per level on Helix trees | Rare (48) | High |
| Hawk | Helix Collector. +1 Helix Fortune per collection digit per level | Uncommon (64) | High |
| Mochibear | Strong Legs. +3 Sweep per level, all trees | Uncommon (64) | High |
| Grizzly Bear | Tough Claws. Reduces tree toughness, so trees break faster | Legendary (24) | Medium |
| Pangolin | Atomized Whispers. +1% Forest Whispers per level | Rare (48) | Medium, until max whispers |
| Solar | Starlyn Training. More Starlyn contest points per level | Uncommon (64) | Medium |
| Stingray | Torrhus Serendipity. +2% rare Tree Gifts at Torrhus per level | Rare (48) | Low |
| Groundhog | Diurnal Animal. +1 Sweep per level (now merged with Nocturnal) | Common (96) | Low |
| Puck | Forest Serendipity. +0.1% double Tree Gifts per level, so 1% at max | Rare (48) | Skip |
Two worth calling out specifically. Ember gives +10% Heart of the Forest XP from all sources, so if you are banking Helia chapters to cash in later, get Ember before you redeem them rather than after. And Firefox effectively maxes itself: firefoxes spawn around Torrhus Canyon and you can lasso them while foraging normally.
Setting up for pet levelling
Since pet levels are the product, anything that increases pet XP is directly increasing your income:
- Taming level: each level is +1% pet XP and raises EXP share rate. The highest-value thing on this list.
- Beastmaster Crest: a pet XP boost that scales with kills.
- Toucan shard: a small additional EXP share rate increase.
- A Foraging EXP Boost pet item:If you are levelling pets for profit the 50% XP boost is definitely worth it. Pet items are removable, so one serves every pet you cycle through.
On the Jade Dragon specifically: its Apex Predator perk gives +0.1% total Sweep per maxed attribute, and it is identical at level 101 and level 200. Only strength, magic find, foraging fortune and forest power scale with level. A level 101 Jade Dragon gets you nearly all of the benefit, which is a large saving.
Apex Predator also changes how you should think about attributes: every maxed attribute is +0.1% on your entire Sweep total, regardless of what that attribute does. Legendary shards need only 24 to reach level 10, so maxing cheap legendaries is an efficient way to buy Sweep.
