Maximizing Foraging Fortune

Foraging Fortune gets you more logs per tree. Every source below, with its maximum value and how to get there.

Base Fortune

This is the base Fortune, before any tree-specific bonuses.

Total+228

+4 Foraging Fortune per level, to level 57.

Every Foraging level is a flat +4 Fortune, and it is the one source no amount of gear substitutes for. The cap starts at 50 and each of seven separate unlocks raises it by one level, to 57. Three are collections: maxing Fig, Mangrove or Helix logs to tier IX. The other four are bought, two from Agatha and two from Miria, and each needs that NPC's milestone 4 or 5 first. Coupons and prizes for both are on the bazaar, so those four have a real coin price. Raising the cap only pays if you already have the XP banked for the level above it.

Foraging Skill Level gives up to +228 fortune.

Total+420

105 Fortune per piece, 420 for the full set. The single largest source in the game.

Helix armor unlocks at Helix collection level 8 and replaces Fig armor. Craft it the same way you would any collection armor. The second gemstone slot is new, so budget for two Perfect Citrines per piece rather than one. Forest Pledge VI is the last 2 Fortune per piece: buy a Water Hyacinth on the bazaar and apply it to a piece that already has Forest Pledge V.

Helix Armor (4 pieces) gives up to +420 fortune.

The axe is where booster upgrades pay off most, so buy the Uncommon booster here before your armor or equipment. Iron Axe Axed is a one-time Forest Essence Shop purchase that multiplies the entire axe total by 1.02, so buy it late, once everything else is maxed.

Obtained from David in Galatea. Its Fortune line is secondary to its Sweep, which is the real reason to max the cloak. The Marshroom reforge adds +4.5 Fortune at Mythic. Recombobulate to Mythic for the full value.

Uncommon Foraging Fortune Booster Upgrade+5
Total+71

No base Fortune at all. All 71 come from hunt milestones, the Morning Dew reforge and a booster.

The best belt once maxed, and the slowest. Milestones are earned by catching critters in a biome, and any mob caught there counts. The ladder is the same in all four biomes and the totals are cumulative: 5 catches for milestone I, then 25, 50, 100, 150, 250, 350, 450, 600 and 750 for milestone X. That is 750 catches per biome you care about, halved from 1,500 by the August 11 patch. Forest biome catches are the Fortune itself. Cavern biome catches matter indirectly: every second Cavern milestone raises the belt one rarity, up to Mythic at milestone X, and rarity is the multiplier on the Morning Dew line. Morning Dew is a Safari Belt exclusive reforge stone from the bazaar, and it shows up on the belt as the Majestic reforge. The Haunted and Icy tracks give Hunting Fortune and Cold Resistance, so they do nothing for foraging. Only one belt fits the slot, and this is the one that belongs there in a maxed build.

Safari Belt gives up to +71 fortune.

Relic of Power+10
EpicBase rarity+6

MythicAll 12 gem slots holding Perfect gems+10
Total+10

10 Fortune at Mythic, which needs every gem slot filled with a Perfect gem.

A general-purpose accessory rather than a foraging-specific one. Its Fortune comes from its gemstone slots, so the number scales with the relic's rarity. It starts Epic, a Recombobulator takes it to Legendary, and filling all 12 slots with Perfect gems takes it to Mythic for the full 10. Twelve Perfect gems is by far the most expensive Fortune upgrade in the game, so leave it until everything else is maxed.

Relic of Power gives up to +10 fortune.

Heart of the Forest

HOTF Foraging Fortune+150

+3 Fortune per level, 50 levels.

A tier 2 node, so it is available early and worth levelling steadily. At 150 Fortune maxed it is the largest non-gear source in the game.

HOTF Foraging Fortune gives up to +150 fortune.

HOTF Foraging Madness+50

Flat +50 Fortune (and +10 Sweep) once unlocked.

A tier 4 node. A single flat unlock rather than a levelled perk, so it is pure upside the moment you buy it.

HOTF Foraging Madness gives up to +50 fortune.

HOTF Early Birdvaries

+100 Fortune, but only on your first 250 trees each day. Deliberately excluded from the totals.

Early Bird is worth having, but it is not a permanent stat: it applies only to the first 250 trees you cut per day. Foraging Stats does not count it toward your Fortune total, and neither does this page, because doing so would overstate your real rates for most of a session.

HOTF Early Bird gives up to varies fortune.

HOTF Forest Strength+50
Formulaperk level × 0.001 × your Strength
Strength cap1,000. Strength beyond that adds nothing here
Level 50 with 1,000 Strength+50
Total+50

Converts your Strength into Fortune. +50 at perk level 50 with 1,000 Strength.

A tier 8 node and one of the largest Fortune sources once your Strength is high. It depends on a stat the API does not expose for this purpose, so Foraging Stats asks you to enter your Strength manually. Below 1,000 Strength you get proportionally less.

HOTF Forest Strength gives up to +50 fortune.

HOTF Forest Speed+50
Formulaperk level × 0.002 × your Speed
Speed cap500. Speed beyond that adds nothing here
Level 50 with 500 Speed+50
Total+50

Converts your Speed into Fortune. +50 at perk level 50 with 500 Speed.

The Speed counterpart to Forest Strength. It caps at a much lower stat value, so 500 Speed is a realistic target. Also a manual input.

HOTF Forest Speed gives up to +50 fortune.

Forest Essence Shop

Fern Lumberjack+20

+2 Fortune per level, 10 levels.

Bought from Fern in the Forest Essence Shop. Cheap, universal, and easy to overlook.

Fern Lumberjack gives up to +20 fortune.

Attribute Shards

Animal Expertise+100

+10 Fortune per level, 10 levels. Rare rarity, 48 shards to max.

Universal Fortune, unlike the tree-scoped shards. Worth prioritising for that reason alone.

Animal Expertise gives up to +100 fortune.

Ultimate DNA (Galaxy Fish shard)+10

+1 Fortune per level, 10 levels. Legendary, so only 24 shards to max.

A small bonus, but legendary shards need just 24 to reach level 10, making this one of the cheapest maxes available.

Ultimate DNA (Galaxy Fish shard) gives up to +10 fortune.

Pets

Jade Dragon+194
Base25 at level 101, +0.25 per level, capping at 50 at level 200+50
Jade Scale15 Fortune per digit of Mangrove collection, max 8 digits+120
SymbiosisLevel 200 only: +4 per OTHER maxed foraging pet, so 6: Frog, Giraffe, Lion, Monkey, Ocelot and Sloth+24
Dragon's PrideNOT counted in the 194: +1 Fortune per 5 total Sweep. At 600 Sweep that is a further +120.
Total+194

194 from its fixed perks, plus Dragon's Pride which scales with your Sweep.

Dragon's Pride couples Fortune to Sweep, which is why the two stats are not independent: every point of Sweep you add is worth a fifth of a Fortune on top. That feedback loop is the reason a Sweep-focused build ends up with high Fortune too. Note that the pet contributes nothing below level 101. Only the Base line is a pet stat, so a Hephaestus Relic raises that 50 and nothing else. The other three are perks and no pet item touches them.

Jade Dragon gives up to +194 fortune.

Hephaestus Relic+25
Hephaestus Relic+50% to pet stats. Half of the Jade Dragon base line, which is 50 at level 200+25
Minos RelicThe cheaper Epic alternative at +33.3%, so 16.65 here rather than 25
Total+25

A pet item worth half of the Jade Dragon's 50 base Fortune.

Both relics raise pet STATS and explicitly not perks, so on a Jade Dragon the whole gain comes off its 50 base Fortune. Jade Scale, Dragon's Pride and Symbiosis are perks and are untouched, which is why this is worth 25 rather than half of the pet's full total. On a Monkey or an Ocelot a relic is worth nothing at all, since their Fortune and Wisdom are abilities too. Note the pet has one item slot: taking the relic means giving up the Winding Ivy and the 10 Sweep on the Sweep page, so the two maximums on these pages cannot both be reached by the same build.

Hephaestus Relic gives up to +25 fortune.

Consumables

Bee Saliva+5

One-time consumable, +1 Fortune each, 5 maximum.

Permanent once eaten. Small, but it never has to be re-earned.

Bee Saliva gives up to +5 fortune.

Celestial Mason Jar+15

Flat +15 Fortune, and +3 Foraging Wisdom.

Foraging Stats assumes every player has this active, because it cannot be read from the API. If you do not have one, subtract 15 from your Fortune.

Celestial Mason Jar gives up to +15 fortune.

Cloudy Century Cake+5

Flat +5 Fortune while active.

A timed buff rather than a permanent unlock, so it needs re-applying.

Cloudy Century Cake gives up to +5 fortune.

Two caveats worth stating plainly. Some sources have no fixed ceiling we can publish, because they scale with another stat or with an unbounded collection, so they are listed but excluded from the total. And only one pet can be active at a time, so pet sources count the best one rather than all of them.

Tree-specific Fortune

These only apply on one tree type, so they never stack with each other. Whichever tree you are cutting, exactly one column below is live and the other two are worth nothing to you at that moment.

Fig only

Agatha Fortune (Fig)+200

+4 Fortune per level, 50 levels, on Fig trees only.Fig trees only

Bought from Agatha with contest coupons. At 200 Fortune maxed this is the single largest tree-specific source in the game. It applies only when cutting Fig trees, so it cannot stack with the Mangrove or Helix equivalents.

Agatha Fortune (Fig) gives up to +200 fortune.

Moonglade Mastery (Phanflare shard)+100

+10 Fortune per level, 10 levels. Counts on both Fig and Mangrove trees.Fig & Mangrove trees only

Common rarity, so 96 shards to max. The one tree mastery that covers two tree types, which makes it the best value of the three if you split your time between Fig and Mangrove. It does nothing on Helix trees.

Moonglade Mastery (Phanflare shard) gives up to +100 fortune.

Fig Collector (Sparrow shard)+80

+1 Fig Fortune per collection digit per level, so +80 at level 10 with an 8-digit collection.Fig trees only

Uncommon rarity, 64 shards to max. Applies only when cutting Fig trees. Digits cap at 8, so a 10,000,000 Fig log collection is the ceiling and chopping past it adds nothing.

Fig Collector (Sparrow shard) gives up to +80 fortune.

Mangrove only

Agatha Fortune (Mangrove)+200

+4 Fortune per level, 50 levels, on Mangrove trees only.Mangrove trees only

The Mangrove counterpart to the Fig perk above. Same shop, same cost structure, same 200 ceiling.

Agatha Fortune (Mangrove) gives up to +200 fortune.

Mangrove Collector (Seagull shard)+80

+1 Mangrove Fortune per collection digit per level, so +80 at level 10 with an 8-digit collection.Mangrove trees only

Uncommon rarity, 64 shards to max. Applies only when cutting Mangrove trees. Digits cap at 8, so a 10,000,000 Mangrove log collection is the ceiling and chopping past it adds nothing.

Mangrove Collector (Seagull shard) gives up to +80 fortune.

Helix only

Miria Fortune (Helix)+200

+4 Fortune per level, 50 levels, on Helix trees only.Helix trees only

The Torrhus Canyon equivalent, sold by Miria. If you are grinding Helix trees this is the one of the three that matters, and at 200 Fortune it is the biggest single upgrade available to a Helix forager. Worth buying early.

Miria Fortune (Helix) gives up to +200 fortune.

Torrhus Mastery (Firefox shard)+100

+100 Helix Fortune at max. Common rarity, so 96 shards to level 10.Helix trees only

One of the best value shards in the update. Firefoxes spawn around Torrhus Canyon and are easy to collect with a lasso while you forage normally, so this maxes itself as a byproduct of grinding.

Torrhus Mastery (Firefox shard) gives up to +100 fortune.

Helix Collector (Hawk shard)+80

+1 Helix Fortune per collection digit per level, so +80 at level 10 with an 8-digit collection.Helix trees only

Scales with the number of digits in your Helix log collection, so it grows as you grind. Digits cap at 8, so the 80 assumes level 10 and a 10,000,000+ collection. At 7 digits it is 70, and chopping past 10,000,000 adds nothing. Uncommon rarity, 64 shards to max.

Helix Collector (Hawk shard) gives up to +80 fortune.
